Director of Global Transportation

 
Are you passionate about developing effective transportation operations in North America for perishable products, creating continual improvements and delivering service targets?  This dynamic company is searching for a highly motivated, results-driven Director of Global Transportation to think strategically and lead the internal and external teams to consistently improve transportation operations. 
 
  • Proficient knowledge and applied expertise managing international transportation operations and logistics performance in North America for perishable refrigerated consumer products.
  • Evaluate and optimize operations to ensure continuous improvement, high customer service, reduced costs, reduced supply chain risk while delivering on time to maintain optimum inventory levels.
  • Strategically and tactically managing operations includes policies, data, KPI’s, procedures, schedules, software, objectives, systems, and controls to reduce costs, increase capacity and provide high customer service for high volume refrigerated perishable consumer products.
  • Represent the company in all external relationships applying your knowledge of the inbound and outbound transportation network, carriers, transportation services and Customs throughout North America.
  • Analyze geopolitical conditions, evaluate existing agreements with third party logistics partners, negotiating new agreements with lowest rates and highest capacities with top performing carriers, knowledge and compliance with import/export and Customs laws and regulations, relationships with Customs brokers, manage transport risks associated with high-volume perishable refrigerated products.
  • Develop and engage every direct report to form a result oriented, highly effective team focused on profitability, efficiency, accountability, effective use of resources, carriers and contributors and high customer service in a fast paced, high quality work environment.
  • Accountable for all financial aspects of transportation operations including operations budgets, P&L, forecasts, accounting, costs controls, asset management, contracts with logistics partners, performance, expenses, reports, productivity and variance analysis.
  • Evaluate current TMS and either improve or replace it to ensure transportation efficiency and cost controls.
  • Collaborate with top management and other key departments lending your expertise and ensuring effective international transportation operations and strategies for the lowest cost on-time deliveries with the highest customer service.
 
Experience Required:
  • At least 10 successful years’ experience in strategic and tactical management of international transportation focused primarily on the US and Mexico, optimizing third party logistics partners including transportation carriers and Customs brokers for refrigerated perishable consumer products with ability to increase revenue and profits, ability to transform direct reports into highly effective team, ability to evaluate current TMS and either improve it or replace it.
